* Business Transactions. We represent individual and corporate clients in a variety of business transactions. We frequently assist clients with transitions such as mergers, acquisitions, and liquidations, and family business continuity planning. Typical clients include corporations, entrepreneurs, family businesses, and investors.
* Taxation. Donald E. Slaughter holds a Master’s Degree in Taxation from New York University, the nation’s most prestigious advanced degree in taxation. With his expertise, we are able to handle a diverse range of tax matters, from general corporate taxation work such as acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures, to tax controversy work including California and federal tax litigation. We handle contested proceedings before the Internal Revenue Service, the United States Tax Court, and the California Franchise Tax Board. We also advise clients concerning tax planning, avoidance of tax disputes, disclosure matters, and related tax issues.
* Trusts and Estates. We also provide estate planning services to our clients, including preparation of wills, trusts, and related estate planning services. We serve clients with diverse backgrounds and desires, on issues ranging from simple wills to more complex issues, such as generation skipping trusts, insurance trusts, charitable remainder trusts, and private foundations. We also assist clients with trust funding and administration, as well as handling of probate and other court proceedings. We help resolve disputes regarding wills, trusts, and estates.
